Rheumatological conditions including Rheumatoid Arthritis are a systemic conditions that usually result in arthritis in joints throughout the body. Joints become inflamed, worn and painful to move. RA routinely affects the feet, legs and hips making walking problematic. A podiatrist may help a patient with rheumatological conditions by trying to improve their gait, thus protecting joints to reduce pain and future damage. This may require footwear advice and orthoses(insoles).
