SHIN SPLINTS
Shin splints is a condition where pain, aching or tightness is felt along the front or sides of the shins of a patient. The symptoms usually arise after a long walk or when participating in sports with easing of the pain after a while resting. This condition is a catch-all phrase for a number of conditions causing this pain. Usually the pain is as a result of the muscles on the front of the shin becoming tired or over worked as they attempt to control poor foot motion like over-pronation(flat feet). It is often associated with running on hard surfaces. Podiatrists can treat this condition by controlling foot motion with footwear, advice on exercise and orthoses. This condition can be treated with good results by your Podiatrist.
